The Winter Book Fair in support of HospiceWits is back. This follows the success of the previous book fairs which helped raise funds for the important work that HospiceWits does for the community in Johannesburg and Soweto. The Book Fair takes place at Polofileds Crossing Shopping Centre from 26 to 28 May.
HospiceWits has been helping some of the most vulnerable people in our society since 1979. Today, with more than 125 full-time staff, including doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists and spiritual counsellors, HospiceWits provides care to those diagnosed with a life-limiting disease, and their families. HospiceWits’ palliative care services help patients to live pain-free and to pass on with dignity.
The Polofields Crossing Book Fair in support of HospiceWits brings an event of food, fiction and fun for all book lovers and supporters of HospiceWits. Get ready to browse the entire weekend of 26 to 28 May 2023.
Thousands of pre-loved books will be on sale in the book tent with prices ranging from R20 to R100 for a full set of books. Visit out book tent where you will find thousands of pre-loved books on sale in the book tent. Visitors are more than welcome to pop in and drop off the books that they want to donate at the tent. You can also donate your books directly to HospiceWits shops located in Orange Grove, Kensington and Parkmore or at Spar Polofields Crossing.
And, the writers’ competition makes a return, giving budding authors a chance to win outstanding voucher and cash prizes. We had so many fantastic stories submitted in the previous competition that judges were hard pressed to make a final choice.
The way the competition works is quite simple: choose a picture of one of the items found in the HospiceWits shops and base your story on that picture. The pictures are there to inspire writers’ creative flow. Click here for more information.
