HospiceWits starts new support group

It can be difficult caring for someone with a life threatening illness and even harder still once they have passed on. Support groups provide much needed help and afford people the opportunity to share their experiences. Knowing that you are not alone can be comforting.

HospiceWits already runs two support groups and from 3 March 2024, they are adding a third: a grief, loss and bereavement support group. This new group meets once a month and will start with their first support group on 3 March at HospiceWits, 50-2nd Avenue, Houghton, Johannesburg, in the main lounge area.

The grief, loss and bereavement support group begins at 10am and concludes at 11:30am. The cost of attending the group is R150 and includes light refreshments. Booking is essential and can be done by calling 083 260 1537 or 011 483 9100.

Getting support during loss and bereavement can help begin the healing process. Grief hits us all in different ways, and it’s not something that we need to endure on our own. If you are struggling with grief, loss and bereavement, it may help to reach out to others who are going through the same thing.

HospiceWits also runs two other support groups. The cancer support group meets every first Saturday of the month, between 11am and 12:30pm. The dementia support group meets every last Saturday at the same times. Both groups are limited to no more than 15 people, and are held at HospiceWits, 50-2nd  Street, Houghton. The fee for each group is R150.

If you need extra support in caring for someone with cancer or dementia, or need emotional support during this trying time, these groups are designed to bring you the assistance you need.

Remember you don’t have to walk this path alone.
